Free comprehensive pill identifier

Pill Identifier by Drugs.com is a free web app that helps you distinguish medication based on visual appearance or medicine name. Its catalog includes prescription, over-the-counter, generic, and brand name drugs. You can describe the pill color, size, shape, or imprint on the medicine. The physical description will be matched to a photo of the drug that fits that description, making it an important tool for those with an unidentified pill.

How do I identify a pill?

Pill Identification offers an accurate and independent description of more than 24,000 medications and natural products. They source their information from references including IBM Watson Micromedex, Cerner Multum, and ASHP. The app is designed to provide every user with the ability to identify a pill without a health care professional. It is also for those who have taken the wrong medication or the wrong dosage in order to avoid serious consequences.

With the app, you can know for certain that the medicine you’re about to take is the correct one and that you’re taking the correct dosage. You will also be able to see its side effects and which drugs you cannot drink it with. To accurately identify the pill or tablet, you can provide any of the following information or provide all three descriptions of the drug: the imprint, color, and shape

The imprint can be any combination of letters, numbers, or markings on the pill, tablet, or capsule. Some medications have different markings on either side. You can choose the imprint on either side or provide the imprints on both sides, separating them with the asterisk symbol—for example, Lupin*10. The other two descriptions are selected from a drop-down menu. Once you find the match, click on the image to see the detailed description and other related information.

Stay safe and be sure

Pill Identifier is an essential application for those who are taking several medications or need to identify the drug that can address a sudden illness or symptom. It’s incredibly easy to use and flexible; you can provide one to three descriptions of the tablet or pill, and it will be able to show a catalog of medicines that fit those descriptions. While it cannot identify syrups, its catalog has more than enough information for you.

In Softonic we scan all the files hosted on our platform to assess and avoid any potential harm for your device. Our team performs checks each time a new file is uploaded and periodically reviews files to confirm or update their status. This comprehensive process allows us to set a status for any downloadable file as follows:

Clean

It’s extremely likely that this software program is clean.

What does this mean?

We have scanned the file and URLs associated with this software program in more than 50 of the world's leading antivirus services; no possible threat has been detected.

Warning

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?

It means a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus program.

We’d like to highlight that from time to time, we may miss a potentially malicious software program. To continue promising you a malware-free catalog of programs and apps, our team has integrated a Report Software feature in every catalog page that loops your feedback back to us.

Flag any particular issues you may encounter and Softonic will address those concerns as soon as possible.
